Will more memory make my PC faster?

Yes and no ... One of the best upgrades you can perform on your computer
is to add additional memory (RAM). Especially when it is starved for RAM, of course, if your computer
Is RAM starved, depends on your operating system. But hold that thought ... We will address how
much RAM is needed in the next section.

Yes, adding RAM will generally run your computer faster and feel Cause
but only up to a certain point. Computer experts say that increasing your RAM from64Megabyte (MB)
to 128 MB you get about 50 percent more power.

So why not just continue to add more RAM? Well, for starters, how much
RAM can be added, will be dependent on the capabilities of the computer. Some computers
(older) not capable of serving more than 512 MB of RAM. This is because the older system
Board (motherboard) and the Basic Input Output System (BIOS) were not written to accommodate
more than 512 MB of RAM. Many newerComputers can handle up to more than 1Gigabyte (GB).

Yes, it is true that you can expect a 50percent gain in performance
if we start from 64MB to 128MB. However, there is a drop-off after that an increase of RAM
from 128 to 256 MB or 512 MB will not increase to a 50 or 100 percent. It will give you some
Improving but not at these levels.

So, how much RAM is enough ... If you are still using Windows 95 or 98, you can probably survive as little as 64 MBRAM, your computer may stop responding if a bit sluggish. However, if you are one of the newer operating systems like Windows 2000 or Windows XP, you need to install at least 128 MB of RAM for the operating system, it is the absolute minimum. But understand, after using 2000 or XP for some time, you will realize that it's not nearly enough.

128 MB of RAM you need to pull your hair (if you have hair ... I do not know) after opening a few applications such as word processing orYour favorite spreadsheet program. To really optimize Windows 2000 and XP, I recommend at least 512 MB of RAM more if you can afford it ...
